Richard Barnwell attended Pepperdine University and left after his junior year to pursue a professional baseball career. In 1989, he signed a professional contract with the New York Yankees Organization. After seven successful seasons, Richard decided to pursue a law school degree.
He was admitted to the California bar on December 1, 2003. Attorney Barnwell has handled all forms of criminal cases, including assault, murder, attempted murder, burglary, criminal threats, drugs, DUI, gang, pimping, pandering, prostitution, rape, robbery, theft, 1st-3rd strike and Federal cases. Richard has successfully obtained dismissals of attempted murder, gang allegations, prostitution and strike charges.
Richard Barnwell's client list includes a Vietnam Veteran, a police officer, a Neutrogena director, a Civil Consulting Group, and Technoconcepts California (now known as Fiber Optics Techno, Inc.). Richard Barnwell has also successfully handled several civil cases, including suits against Public Storage, ORIX and E-Cap Ventures I and II (current multi-million dollar litigation).
