Background and Education
Mr.Guidry is a native of Lake Arthur, Louisiana where he was valedictorian of St. Maria Garetti High School in 1981. He obtained his undergraduate degree in history with honors from Louisiana State University in 1985. Continuing at LSU, he successfully completed law school, receiving his juris doctor degree and license to practice law in 1988.
Bar Admissions
Mr. Guidry is admitted to practice before the Louisiana Supreme Court, and all state district and appellate courts. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Areas of Practice
Mr. Guidry has focused his practice primarily in the area of medical malpractice, automobile accidents, products liability, and maritime law. From 1988 through May 2000, Mr. Guidry spent the majority of his practice in the defense of oil companies, drilling contractors, vessel operators, and other companies working in the maritime industry. During those twelve years, Mr. Guidry acquired valuable knowledge about how companies investigate casualties and evaluate their cases. Since June of 2000, Mr. Guidry has devoted his practice entirely to representing persons injured through the negligence of others and has carried this valuable knowledge and experience with him.
Organizations and Affiliations
Mr. Guidry is a member in good standing of the Louisiana State and the Baton Rouge Bar Associations. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Guidry has also been appointed to membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which recognizes those attorneys who have demonstrated excellence in representation of their clients by achieving a settlement or verdict in excess of one million dollars.
Presentations and Legal Articles
Mr. Guidry has been asked several times to present papers and to make presentations to his colleagues in the various areas in which he practices. In September of 2001, Mr. Guidry presented a paper and spoke at the 9th Annual Admiralty Symposium of the Louisiana State Bar Association on the topic "Accidents Occurring on and Around Fixed Offshore Platforms: The interplay Between Federal, State, and Maritime Law." In November of 2002, Mr. Guidry was requested to present a paper and speak at the 2002 Medical Malpractice Seminar of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Guidry has also presented papers and spoken at seminars sponsored by the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association on such topics as bar liability for serving alcohol to underage drinkers and how to deal with a malingering diagnosis in a brain injury case.
