{"id":1693,"date":"2012-12-31T23:08:09","date_gmt":"2012-12-31T23:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/cincinnati\/?p=1693"},"modified":"2026-05-22T19:04:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T19:04:09","slug":"tipsy-tow-program-not-available-in-most-of-ohio-due-to-emergency-road-service-needs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/cincinnati\/tipsy-tow-program-not-available-in-most-of-ohio-due-to-emergency-road-service-needs\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cTipsy Tow\u201d Program Not Available in Most of Ohio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) \u2014 The auto club AAA is taking steps to clarify that their clubs free New Year's Eve towing service for drunk drivers, known as \u201cTipsy Tow\u201d, is not available in most of Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>The clarification became necessary when details of the \"Tipsy Tow\" program \u2014 where AAA-affiliated trucks give inebriated motorists a <a title=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/content\/stories\/local\/2012\/12\/31\/Tipsy-Tow-not-available-in-most-of-Ohio.html\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/content\/stories\/local\/2012\/12\/31\/Tipsy-Tow-not-available-in-most-of-Ohio.html\">free tow and a ride<\/a> \u2014 were widely posted on Facebook and other social media in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post states that the \"Tipsy Tow\" program service is offered nationwide. While it is offered in most states nationwide, it is not available throughout entire states.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"https:\/\/ohio.aaa.com\" href=\"https:\/\/ohio.aaa.com\">AAA Ohio Auto Club<\/a> says it doesn't provide the \"Tipsy Tow\" service because its main focus is to provide emergency road service. New Year's Eve is a big night for that, especially after the snowfall the state has accumulated.<\/p>\n<p>The auto club also says there are other ways to keep drunk drivers off the road and avoid auto accidents. \u2028\u2028In the Buckeye State, \"Tipsy Tow\" is being offered only in eight counties covered by AAA Northwest Ohio.
