Mr. Wright has been retained by family members of Mr. Crawford, who was holding an bb\/pellet air rifle at the time of the fatal shooting.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from the Associated Press, police claimed immediately after the incident that Mr. Crawford, a 22-year-old resident of Cincinnati, was waving a rifle at customers just prior to the police shooting. LeeCee Johnson, who has two children with Mr. Crawford and is expecting a third, told the Dayton Daily News that he was speaking to her on his cell phone at the time of shooting. \u201cWe was just talking. He said he was at the video games playing videos and he went over there by the toy section where the toy guns were,\u201d Ms. Johnson said. \u201cAnd the next thing I know, he said \u2018It\u2019s not real,\u2019 and the police start shooting and they said \u2018Get on the ground,\u2019 but he was already on the ground because they had shot him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(daytondailynews.com\/news\/news\/man-police-shot-in-walmart-killed-over-fake-gun-fa\/ngw77\/, Dayton Daily News, August 7, 2014)<\/p>\n<p>Lamon Brown, a cousin of the victim, told the Daily News that he also believed that the weapon at the center of the tragedy was not real, as Mr. Crawford did not own a bb\/pellet air rifle-type gun. Tasha Thomas, who drove Mr. Crawford to the Beavercreek Wal-Mart on Tuesday evening, also stated that he was not armed when he entered the store.<\/p>\n<p>Just days after the police shooting, the suspicions of Mr. Crawford\u2019s friends and loved ones were confirmed.
