Mr. Wright Retained by the Family of John Crawford, A 22-Year-Old Man Who Was Fatally Shot By Police While Holding a bb\/pellet air rifle In An Ohio Walmart Michael Wright, a partner with the law firm of Wright & Schulte LLC, an Ohio personal injury firm, will appear at a news conference on Monday, August 11th, to discuss the death of John Crawford, who was shot the evening of August 5th during a police shooting at the Wal-Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio. Mr. Wright has been retained by family members of Mr. Crawford, who was holding a bb\/pellet air rifle at the time of the fatal shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a report from the Associated Press, police claimed immediately after the incident that Mr. Crawford, a 22-year-old resident of Cincinnati, was waving a rifle at customers just prior to the police shooting. They further assert that he would not drop the weapon when directed to do so by officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after being informed of his death, several of Mr. Crawford\u2019s loved ones said they had reason to doubt the account given by police officers. LeeCee Johnson, who has two children with Mr. Crawford and is expecting a third, told the Dayton Daily News that he was speaking to her on his cell phone at the time of the shooting. \u201cWe was just talking. He said he was at the video games playing videos and he went over there by the toy section where the toy guns were,\u201d Ms. Johnson said. \u201cAnd the next thing I know, he said \u2018It\u2019s not real,\u2019 and the police start shooting and they said \u2018Get on the ground,\u2019 but he was already on the ground because they had shot him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tasha Thomas, who drove Mr. Crawford to the Beavercreek Wal-Mart on Tuesday evening, also stated that he was not armed when he entered the store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just days after the police shooting, the suspicions of Mr. Crawford\u2019s friends and loved ones were confirmed. According to the Associated Press, Attorney General Mike DeWine released a brief statement revealing that Mr. Crawford had been holding a MK-177 BB\/Pellet rifle, a variable pump air rifle\u201d made by Crosman Corp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
