{"id":1169,"date":"2022-02-23T16:04:46","date_gmt":"2022-02-23T16:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/memphis\/cochran-firm-lawsuit-against-scooties-one-stop\/"},"modified":"2023-03-08T20:20:14","modified_gmt":"2023-03-08T20:20:14","slug":"cochran-firm-lawsuit-against-scooties-one-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/memphis\/cochran-firm-lawsuit-against-scooties-one-stop\/","title":{"rendered":"Cochran Firm Lawsuit against Scootie's One Stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cochranfirmmidsouth.com\/\">The Cochran Firm of the Mid-South<\/a> managing partner <a href=\"https:\/\/cochranfirmmidsouth.com\/about-the-cochran-firm-midsouth\/howard-manis\/\">Howard Manis<\/a> filed a lawsuit Tuesday June 22 against Scootie\u2019s One Stop convenience store near the University of Memphis and its owners.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuit from Nettles\u2019 family, neither the store owner nor Buie tried to help him after he was shot. It alleges Buie acted recklessly, with \u201cmalice and gross negligence for which the store owners are responsible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The complaint also claims the store owners should have known Buie wasn't supposed to be carrying a firearm as a convicted felon.
