{"id":1533,"date":"2021-07-23T16:02:49","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T16:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/?post_type=sub-practice-areas&#038;p=1533"},"modified":"2021-11-12T17:38:40","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T17:38:40","slug":"dialysis","status":"publish","type":"sub-practice-areas","link":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/dialysis\/","title":{"rendered":"Dialysis Case Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>25 year old female with juvenile onset of diabetes who is suffering from End Stage Renal Disease put on dialysis.&nbsp; As with most dialysis patients, this young lady became anemic after several dialysis treatments.&nbsp; Her hematocrit and hemoglobin were noted to be extremely low (her hemaglobin was 6 and her hematocrit was 19).&nbsp; Notwithstanding these critical values, her treating nephrologist did not order a blood transfusion before or during her next dialysis treatment.&nbsp; The dialysis center also did not call the doctor before beginning dialysis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the dialysis treatment, the patient went into cardiac arrest.&nbsp; Although she was resuscitated, she never recovered and died a week later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outcome:&nbsp; The dialysis center settled the case early.&nbsp; The doctor however, went to trial and lost.&nbsp; The judge found that he committed medical malpractice in failing to address the patient's low H&amp;H levels before dialysis which led to her premature death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1535,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":""},"categories":[58],"class_list":["post-1533","sub-practice-areas","type-sub-practice-areas","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-dialysis-mistakes"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas\/1533","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/sub-practice-areas"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1535"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1533"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1533"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
