Uncomplicated Mild Traumatic Brain Injury"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mild traumatic brain injuries can be further sub-classified as complicated MTBI and uncomplicated MTBI.&nbsp; A complicated MTBI is characterized when a person has a Glascow Coma Score of 13-15, but shows some structural abnormality like edema, hematoma, or contusion on either a CAT scan or an MRI.&nbsp; An uncomplicated MTBI is characterized by normal neuroimaging.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical literature has reported that complicated MTBI\u2019s are much more likely to have worse cognitive functioning acutely than those with uncomplicated MTBI\u2019s.&nbsp; Further, complicated MTBI\u2019s can go on to cause long-term permanent problems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a large range injuries that can fall within the uncomplicated MTBI definition ranging from mild sports concussions to more serious injuries from auto accidents.&nbsp; A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury that would fall into the category of uncomplicated.&nbsp; However, concussion is an often misused term because it is more readily understood by patients and is easier to communicate the favorable prognosis associated with this injury.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1938,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":""},"categories":[75],"class_list":["post-1936","sub-practice-areas","type-sub-practice-areas","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-traumatic-brain-injury"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas\/1936","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/sub-practice-areas"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1938"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1936"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1936"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
