{"id":1989,"date":"2021-08-02T19:50:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T19:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/?post_type=sub-practice-areas&#038;p=1989"},"modified":"2021-12-10T16:55:00","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T16:55:00","slug":"neuroimaging-findings","status":"publish","type":"sub-practice-areas","link":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/neuroimaging-findings\/","title":{"rendered":"Neuroimaging Findings in Traumatic Brain Injury"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Depending on the nature and severity of a TBI, various neuroimaging techniques have demonstrated several conditions that are associated with traumatic brain injury.&nbsp; These conditions are well reported in the medical literature and include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hippocampal atrophy;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cavum septum pellucidum;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Increased lateral ventricle size;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dilated perivascular spaces;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diffuse axonal injury (shearing injury);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cerebral atrophy;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pituitary gland atrophy;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hemosiderin deposition;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arachnoid cysts;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contusions;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vascular injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every TBI patient does not suffer from all of these conditions and the severity of TBI does not correlate exactly with a specific condition or number of conditions.&nbsp; For instance, a patient that suffers from a mild TBI may demonstrate hippocampal atrophy just as a patient with a severe TBI might suffer.&nbsp; The same is true with each of the above listed conditions.&nbsp; However, the medical literature does demonstrate that these conditions are associated in patients who suffer from any type of TBI.&nbsp; Thus, when a patient presents with a history of head trauma and has clinical findings known to correlate with a TBI, neuroimaging can provide confirmation, through the discovery of these conditions, that structural damage was caused by the TBI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1991,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":"","_seopress_analysis_target_kw":""},"categories":[75],"class_list":["post-1989","sub-practice-areas","type-sub-practice-areas","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-traumatic-brain-injury"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas\/1989","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/sub-practice-areas"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1991"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1989"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1989"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
