Respiratory or lung diseases include asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung cancer, and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 30 million Americans are living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease such as asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis.&nbsp; In the U.S. each year Americans suffer from more than one billion colds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study of respiratory disease is known as pulmonology.&nbsp; A pulmonologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory and lung diseases.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many different types of tests used to diagnose respiratory diseases.&nbsp; Some of these include: Chest x-ray, pulmonary function test, CT Scan, Bronchoscopy, biopsy, ventilation perfusion scan, and ultra sound to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the respiratory disease, some treatments include the administration of medications like antibiotics, steroids and breathing treatment drugs.&nbsp; Surgery may be indicated in certain types of cancers of the lung or in cases where a lung transplantation is necessary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1635,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":""},"categories":[81],"class_list":["post-2035","sub-practice-areas","type-sub-practice-areas","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-medical-malpractice"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas\/2035","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/sub-practice-areas"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1635"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2035"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2035"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
