{"id":2076,"date":"2021-08-12T14:58:05","date_gmt":"2021-08-12T14:58:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/?post_type=sub-practice-areas&#038;p=2076"},"modified":"2021-12-10T16:48:23","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T16:48:23","slug":"highway-injuries-statistics","status":"publish","type":"sub-practice-areas","link":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/highway-injuries-statistics\/","title":{"rendered":"Highway Deaths and Injuries Statistics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2018, there were 132,908,249 registered passenger cars travelling America\u2019s Highways.&nbsp; There were another 141,242,162 light trucks, 8,666,185 motorcycles, 992,152 buses, and 13,233,910 large trucks.&nbsp; These staggering numbers mean that nearly 300 million vehicles take to our highways each day.&nbsp; This results in crashes that injure 2,710,000 people (as of 2018) each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The months of November and December see the most total number of crashes each year.&nbsp; Saturday is the deadliest day of the week for fatal crashes at a time range of between 9 p.m. to Midnight.&nbsp; Thursday is the day of the week most injury crashes occur, with those crashes occurring most frequently between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of conditions, most crashes by a large margin occurred during normal conditions in the daylight.&nbsp; Crashes by rear end collision produced the most number of injuries and property damage with crashes by angle accounting for the next largest amount of injury producing crashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By far the initial point of impact in most crashes is a frontal impact, followed by left sided impacts and right sided impacts.&nbsp; Rear impacts were the least of the initial points of impact in crashes.&nbsp; In terms of vehicle occupants, the driver was the occupant most often killed or injured in crashes by almost double of the passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>California, Texas and Florida accounted for the highest numbers of fatal crashes in 2018 followed by Georgia, North Carolina and Ohio, according to NHTSA.&nbsp; Colorado has the highest percentage of rollover deaths with nearly half (49.5%) of its total fatal accidents resulting from rollovers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":2078,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":"","_seopress_analysis_target_kw":""},"categories":[82],"class_list":["post-2076","sub-practice-areas","type-sub-practice-areas","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-automobile-accidents"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas\/2076","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sub-practice-areas"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/sub-practice-areas"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2078"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2076"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.cochranfirm.com\/new-orleans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2076"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
