The earplug designed\nsupposedly allowed soldiers to alter the device for more optimal hearing in\ndifferent situations. However, after recent reports, 3M allegedly entered their\ncontract with the federal government knowing the ear <a href=\"https:\/\/cochranfirmphiladelphia.com\/philadelphia-product-liability-lawyer\/defective-medical-devices\/\">device was not 100% safe<\/a>.\nMany veterans serving between 2003 and 2015 have reported hearing loss and\nbeing diagnosed with tinnitus, a condition which causes loud ringing in the\nears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More on Tinnitus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tinnitus is the most common disability among military\nveterans. People who suffer from tinnitus describe it as a ringing or buzzing\nin the ears, a high-pitched whistle, and many other sounds. The sounds are\noften referred to as \u201cphantom noises\u201d since they are heard when there is no\nexternal sound present. For some, it comes and goes but for others, the sound\nseems permanent. A large percentage of people who experience tinnitus aren\u2019t\nthat affected, but still there are some who suffer from insomnia and a lack of\nfocus and concentration due to the condition. There is no known cure to tinnitus,\nso treatment focuses on helping veterans cope with living with the condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do I Sign Up?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are possibly over 10,000 people who have been affected\nby hearing loss because of the 3M Combat Arms Earplugs. The lawsuit, which is a\nmass tort (not a class action lawsuit), is in the beginning stages and those\nwho have been affected can still file a claim to be a part of the lawsuit. Those\nwho served our country during this period should have been given the proper\nprotective equipment and now deserve the proper VA benefits.
