General Motors has issued a nationwide recall for more than 19,000 Saturn Sky automobiles produced from 2006-2007. The recall is part of a national recall of 1.6 million vehicles produced by GM which contain defective ignition switches.
Switches installed in these Saturn cars can be accidentally switched off, shutting down the vehicle while drivers are on the road. GM failed to manufacture the ignition switch with a sufficient amount of torque to keep it from changing position when pulled down by a heavy key ring or bumped by a driver’s knee. Without power to the Saturn Sky, the power steering, power brakes, and airbags are no longer operational, leaving nearby drivers at the mercy of an out-of-control vehicle.
General Motors has created a $400 million compensation fund for victims who have been hurt or killed because of their defective ignition switches. If you or someone you know was hurt in a Saturn Sky made between 2006-2007 then you may be eligible for this compensation.

The Saturn Sky is a roadster based on the Kappa automobile platform first sold in 2006. It shares its platform with the Pontiac Solstice, another vehicle produced by GM which is under nationwide recall for defective ignition switches. Production of the Saturn Sky was ceased in 2009 when the Saturn division of GM was liquidated.
