J. Sebastian Van Coevorden is a dedicated civil rights lawyer known for his passion for justice and commitment to protecting individual rights. As the descendant of Holocaust survivors and political refugees, he has always been driven to provide a voice to the voiceless. Originally from Seattle, Mr. Van Coevorden earned his political science degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he interned with the Bronx Defenders and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office. He later attended the University of Texas School of Law, where he focused on litigation skills and participated in interscholastic competitions. Based upon his success in the Texas Law advocacy program, Mr. Van Coevorden was admitted to the University of Texas Board of Advocates. Following law school, Mr. Van Coevorden practiced law in Dallas, Texas for three years, where he honed his skills and gained valuable experience in high-stakes civil rights cases. Mr. Van Coevorden has significant experience in civil rights litigation, particularly in cases involving incarcerated persons, employment discrimination, education discrimination, and individuals hurt by law enforcement. He has also been actively involved in appellate litigation, ensuring that justice is pursued at all judicial levels.
