Les Cochran - lawyer

Les Cochran was born in Brownwood, Texas in 1935. He was admitted to the practice of law before the Supreme Court of Texas in 1960. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas.

Les attended Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956. His legal education began at Baylor University and was completed at the University of Texas School of Law where he received a JD degree in 1960.

Board Certified in both Civil Trial Law and in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Les is also a Diplomate in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He was a former City Attorney for the city of Abilene, Texas from 1961 through 1966. He lectured on Medical Informed Consent in Texas at the High School for Health Professions (Spring 1984) and on How to Avoid Malpractice at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1990.

Les is a member of the Houston and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), and The Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA). He is a member of the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists, and he is a Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Les is rated “AV” by the Martindale-Hubbell lawyer rating system. He is also a former Army JAG officer with the retired rank of Lt. Colonel.
