Los Angeles, Cali. -- Jamon R. Hicks with The Cochran Firm – Los Angeles was elected to membership in the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc.

The "100 Black Men" concept originated in 1963 in New York City and resulted in the formation of the One Hundred Black Men of New York, Inc. This group of successful men from the disciplines of business, industry, public affairs, government and other professions decided to combine their skills, experience and resources to improve the quality of life for African Americans and other minorities.

By 1970 the concept spread to the development of independent chapters around the country, and in 1981, the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc. (100 BMLA) began its operations.

Serving the greater Los Angeles community, the 100 BMLA is a non-profit civic and community based organization comprised of approximately 78 members. The 100 BMLA was founded on the precept that we would make a difference in the communities they serve by demonstrating their unconditional support for the enhancement of education for the youth in their communities. Among the group's many accomplishments is the major sponsorship of the Young Black Scholars Program.
