It’s a civilian’s duty to follow the laws set out by the local, state, and federal judicial courts. After all, they are enacted to preserve the rights of civilians and keep them safe. When it comes to Halloween though, some places have passed laws that can seem pretty weird or quirky to the ordinary person.

No More Clowning Around

Remember a couple of years ago when killer clowns were a thing? Apparently Vendragues, France had an issue with clowns as well and now it is illegal on Halloween to wear clown costumes or makeup if you are more than 12 years old.

Trick-No-Treating

You’re never too old for Halloween…Unless you live in Bellville, Missouri. If you have passed the eighth grade or the age of an eighth grader, trick-or-treating is illegal. I guess some residents got tired of high schoolers trying to stop by passed their bed times.

Silly String Is Okay, Just Not On Halloween

In Hollywood, California a law passed banning the use of silly string on October 31st until noon on November 1st. Supposedly you can get fined $1000 for just holding the can! So if you’re a fan of silly string, but on a budget I would highly suggest not using it on Halloween if you live in Hollywood.

Nobody Likes A Two-Faced Person Anyway

If you live in Walnut Creek, California you have to obtain a permit to wear a mask or disguise on a public street. This law makes sense for any ordinary day, but makes it even harder for indecisive trick-or-treaters when trying to come up with a costume.

Sunday Funday (Halloween Not Included)

In Rehoboth, Delaware residents are not allowed to celebrate Halloween if it happens to fall on a Sunday. If Halloween lands on a Sunday, Halloween must be celebrated on the evening of October 30th between 6pm and 8pm.

The Cochran Firm wishes you a safe and fun Halloween!
