Woman files $3 million water park accident lawsuit

Plaintiff claims Six Flags theme park failed to properly supervise park guests

A New York City woman recently filed a $3 million water park accident lawsuit against Six Flags Great Adventure claiming the New Jersey theme park was negligent when it allowed her and a friend to go down a single-tube water slide together last year. The plaintiff suffered a broken ankle and claims she incurred further damages as a result of the accident.

According to the complaint, the combined weight of the riders caused them to travel too fast down the King Cobra water slide, at which point they slammed into a decorative snake head at the top of a safety wall. The weight limit for a single rider is 200 pounds, which the pair overwhelmingly exceeded with their combined weight in a two-occupant tube brought over from another water slide.

Attorneys for the plaintiff explained ride screener was negligent when he or she failed to stop the victims from entering the water slide with the two-occupant tube they carried over from another ride. Six Flags could ultimately be held responsible for the careless actions of one of its employees for failure to train or supervise the ride attendant.
