Offices of The Cochran Firm are banding together to raise money for The American Red Cross to help the victims displaced in the flooding left by Hurricane Harvey. In times of turmoil, our nation shows its true character when we come together as one and help our fellow citizens.
The Cochran Firm strongly believes in our motto, “To whom much is given, much is expected” and we attempt to live up to those words everyday with action. In addition to our regional offices making donations, the Houston office of The Cochran Firm is engaging in local sponsorship to aid high school students affected by the disaster.
We strongly encourage the public to join the relief effort as well, whether it be donating money to bona fide charities, giving time, or sending supplies to those who need it. If you would like to donate to The American Red Cross, please follow this link.
The Category 4 hurricane made landfall on the Texas coast with winds in excess of 130 miles per hour, dropping almost four feet of rain as lingered around the Houston area for days. Hurricane Harvey also created flash floods in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The last time a storm of this magnitude struck the Texas coast was the Indianola hurricane of August 1886.
The storm displaced tens of thousands of residents across Texas just as the school year began. Many of those who were lucky enough to survive the storm or evacuate came back only to find their homes and entire communities destroyed by the disaster. The people of Texas need our nation’s help more than ever and we strongly encourage everyone to give generously to relief organizations determined to rebuild our devastated communities and help the people of Texas heal from their losses.
Even after his passing, the passion and guiding principles of our founding partner Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. continue to guide and shape our nationwide practice. As a law firm committed to social justice and helping our communities, attorneys of The Cochran Firm understand that because we have been blessed with so much, we also share a responsibility to give back to the communities we serve.
Our donations will go directly to The American Red Cross, with additional aid coming from our offices located in Texas. Again, we strongly encourage generous donations of time, money, and aid from those who are able to do so. Our hearts are with the people of the great state of Texas and all the other victims of Hurricane Harvey. God Bless.
