Shean Williams, Fanon Rucker and Mel Brooks of the Cochran Firm are representing the family of Zackery Leffler, a 25-year-old Kentucky man who was killed in December of last year when the truck he was driving was hit head-on by a semi going in the wrong direction.

The victim, Zackery Leffler played soccer at Northern Kentucky University, graduating in 2021 with a degree in Statistics and economics. He lived in Burlington, Kentucky, founded TACTYX Analytics, and worked for Southern Carlson following graduation.

The truck driver was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor.

Cochran Ohio filed a lawsuit earlier this year in federal court in Chicago but held a press conference with the family of Mr. Leffler after the driver was sentenced this week to 30 days house arrest.

The family and Cochran attorneys held a presser in Cincinnati last week. They also want a jury trial for a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver who hit him and the driver's employer.

"A bad trucking company hired a bad truck driver with a bad driving history," the family's attorney, Shean Williams, stated in announcing the legal efforts, "and he killed a great man."

The family is also asking for Ohio lawmakers to create stricter drug testing laws for truck drivers, allegedly noting that bottles of pills were found in the truck after the crash, and that he had a medical history that should have prevented him from driving or being hired by the company.  Furthermore, the family of Mr. Leffler wants Ohio lawmakers to require toxicology tests whenever there's a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer. They also want state transportation inspectors to help local police investigate the scene.

"If you have a DOT officer from the state of Ohio instead of a regular law enforcement, investigating and understanding what these regulations are, this investigation would have been done differently, and we believe the outcome would have been different," -Williams
